New code. Testing with
boolean == false && ((3!=2 || 4==4) || (6-3)*(7-6) == (5*8)-(4*2*5)+3)
revealed a small bug I left when I re-wrote the function to determine if an expression is an atom.
Now I better sleep, early lectures, *sigh*
